About me - Ondra “Banana” Zdarsky
I’m originally from the Czech , living in North Vancouver, BC.
A few years ago, I decided to pick up my first full-frame camera and I’ve been stuck with it ever since.
At first, I was all about landscapes and wildlife. I spent hours sitting out in the bush waiting for something magical to happen. After few months, I took my camera on Mount Seymour, I started shooting mountain bikers riding local trails. It was totally unplanned, but it sparked something new. That was the moment I shifted from wildlife to MTB photography, basically overnight.
In 2021, I got the chance to shoot Crankworx in Whistler for the first time. That experience completely changed how I see photography. A full week of nonstop shooting pushed my limits and helped me grow more than I ever imagined. Since then, MTB and action sports have been a big part of my focus.
That said, I still go back to landscapes and wildlife when I need to recharge. It’s the opposite of the fast-paced energy of biking—quiet, slow, and grounding. Time in nature, without any rush, helps keep me balanced.
I love everything about photography. Not just taking the shots and editing them, but the whole process—learning, planning, storytelling, finding new angles, and always chasing something a little different.
